Lloyd Kirkpatrick Memorial Award 2016
McMaster University Kinesiology student, Michael Sekenda, has been chosen by Ronald McDonald House Charities Hamilton as the recipient of the Ronald McDonald House Lloyd Kirkpatrick Memorial Outstanding Student Volunteer Award for 2016.
This award includes a $500 cash gift and was funded through a donation from the Rotary Club of Dundas, in memory of Lloyd Kirkpatrick, a past Vice President of RMHCH and past President of the Rotary Club of Dundas.
Michael has been chosen for this award because of his outstanding commitment to RMHCH as a Ronald McDonald Family Room volunteer. Since he joined our team in September, 2015, Michael has contributed 52 hours of volunteer service. “Looking back on my experience, I realize that volunteering for RMHCH was one of the best decisions I had ever made. During every shift, I receive countless numbers of ‘thank you’ messages from families. Many express the true impact the Family Room and the volunteers have on their lives. Being on the receiving end of a ‘thank you’ makes a world of difference in my life.”
Michael aspires to continue his education after graduation next year by pursuing physiotherapy. “Not only does this award help me to continue my educational aspirations, it acts as a reminder to me to continue to give back.”
Thank you Michael for your dedication to our families and congratulations on being selected for this special award!
