The Brucks Family

Brucks

Meet the Brucks Family.

I was admitted to McMaster Hospital the day of a scheduled ultrasound, then rushed into an emergency C-section. I was only 27 weeks pregnant and our baby weighed just one pound, six ounces (630g). We were completely unprepared for such a devastating turn of events.

With three other children needing me, I was not even close to being ready to return home when the hospital discharged me. Aside from the physical aspects of healing from a C-section, and a husband working overtime, I really felt the need to be close to my tiny new baby who was hanging by a thread in the neonatal ward at McMaster Hospital.

Luckily, Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO) took me in. I was able to heal while I was close enough to the hospital to spend each day with my baby. The doctors and nurses encouraged me to talk to touch and hold my baby as often as I could. I was only able to do that because of RMHCSCO.

If I had to drive back and forth I wouldn't have been able to spend much time with him at all. The doctors told us things could go either way and to be prepared for the worst.

I truly believe that RMHCSCO helped to save my baby.
